Senior Speech Pathology Transition Pathway (18 Months)
It can be hard to make the leap from early-career clinician to confident senior.
In speech pathology, the shift isn’t just about clinical skill.
A senior needs to:
Balance their own caseload and complexity
Continue deep clinical learning
Supervise and invest in others
Inspire and shape service delivery
That leap can feel unclear — and at times, isolating.
What if there was a pathway with graduated responsibility?
What if you could “try on” leadership in a safe environment — with gentle, structured feedback and coaching?
What if you could increase your exposure to complex clients while receiving PhD-level supervision?
What if you were mentored not only clinically, but in leadership, by a Director who has previously led a new hospital and other complex service?
Introducing Our 18-Month Senior Transition Pathway
You will be mentored by:
Dr Victoria Sandham – Clinical Lead (PhD)
Callum Trevorrow – Director
This pathway is intentionally designed to move you from capable clinician to respected senior.
Phase 1: Clinical Depth & Caseload Development
You begin by building a strong caseload across:
NDIS
Private clients
Clinic-based work
Community-based work
You deepen clinical reasoning, manage increasing complexity, and refine your decision-making. Receive clinical supervision from Dr Victoria Sandham.
Phase 2: Graduated Leadership Exposure
You will progressively gain experience in:
Delegating to Allied Health Assistants
Supporting our Speech Pathology student pathway
Supervising new graduates (with oversight and coaching)
Contributing to service development decisions
You won’t be “thrown in the deep end.”
You will be supported, debriefed, and coached.
Optional Advanced Streams
If aligned with your interests, you may:
Help grow and shape our developing Feeding Clinic (feeding is not for everyone — and that’s okay)
Guide Early Childhood Intervention Teachers through our Integrated Speech & Language Program
Influence multidisciplinary practice across our growing service
What Happens After 18 Months?
You graduate into a Senior Speech Pathologist role:
Clinically confident
Competent in complexity
Experienced in supervision
Refined in your leadership
Highly respected within your field
This is not just a title change.
It is a structured evolution into leadership.
Applicants must have 18 months experience as a Speech Pathologist.
If you are interested, please email admin@accesstotherapy.com.au and we will arrange an initial, no-obligation conversation with Callum and Victoria.
Formal applications close 20 March.
