Paediatric therapy for Walloon families
Walloon has roughly tripled in a few years and is still building. Many of the families moving in are young, with children under five, and the services have not caught up with the housing.
We are about sixteen minutes away on Robertson Road in Raceview, with speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietetics and early childhood teaching under one roof.
What fast growth means for families here
When a suburb grows this quickly, waitlists grow with it, and the first thing to disappear is the option of being seen soon. Parents in a new estate often find the nearest paediatric therapist is a mobile service booked out for months, or a clinic in Brisbane.
We would rather tell you honestly where our waitlist sits than give you an optimistic number. If we cannot see your child soon, we will say so, and we will tell you who else to try.
What we help with
All five of our disciplines see children from Walloon.
- Speech pathology — Talking, understanding, clear speech, stuttering, and communication for children who are not yet speaking.
- Occupational therapy — Fine motor and handwriting, sensory processing, emotional regulation, self-care and independence, play and social skills.
- Physiotherapy — toe walking, flat feet, W-sitting, torticollis and head shape in babies, late walking, low tone and hypermobility, gross motor delay, and sports injuries in older children.
- Dietetics — Fussy and selective eating, growth and nutrition concerns, feeding skills, allergies and intolerances, constipation, and mealtimes that have stopped working.
- Early childhood teaching — Early intervention led by a qualified early childhood teacher — kindy and school readiness, routines, participation, and support that works in the room your child is actually in.
Finding us from Walloon
From Walloon it is about sixteen minutes to our Robertson Road rooms in Raceview — out through Thagoona and Amberley, or down the Rosewood–Walloon Road depending on where in the estate you are. Our Springfield clinic at Unit 2, 8 Commercial Drive is around twenty-two minutes, which for some families is the easier run.
We also see children at home in Walloon, and at kindies and schools across the western corridor, where that is the right setting for the child. For a new estate where the nearest clinic is a drive, a session in the room your child actually struggles in is often worth more than one in ours.
Families from Thagoona, Haigslea and Marburg use the same rooms, and we are happy to schedule siblings together so one trip covers two children.
Drive times are a guide and depend on the hour — tell us when you can realistically get to us and we will find a time that fits.

How funding works with us
- Plan-managed NDIS — yes. Your plan manager pays our invoices.
- Self-managed NDIS — yes. You pay and claim back through the portal.
- Agency-managed (NDIA-managed) — no. We are not a registered NDIS provider, so agency-managed plans cannot be used with us.
- Private — yes. Families with no NDIS funding are very welcome, and some have a Medicare rebate available through their GP.
If you are not sure which arrangement you have, it is written on your plan, and we will help you find it.
For GPs, paediatricians, educators and support coordinators
We take referrals from GPs in Walloon, Rosewood and Amberley, the kindies and early learning centres across the western corridor, child health nurses, plan managers and support coordinators. Families do not need a referral to contact us, and a referral never goes to the back of a queue for being informal.
- However it suits you. A letter, a phone call, an email, or the appointment request form — we do not insist on a template.
- We confirm receipt. You will know the referral landed, and roughly how long the wait is for that discipline, rather than wondering.
- We write back. With the family’s consent, we send the referrer our findings, the goals agreed and the plan — at the start, and again at review. This is the part most services skip.
- We tell you when it is not us. If a child needs a different service, or needs one before ours, we will say so and point you to it.
If you are a referrer and you are not sure we are the right service, ring us before you refer. We would rather spend ten minutes on the phone than have a family wait on our list for something we were never going to be able to help with.

Frequently asked questions
Is Walloon too far for regular appointments?
Most families find a fortnightly or monthly trip to Raceview manageable, and we build plans around that rather than assuming weekly sessions. Where getting in is genuinely hard, we can do some of the work at your child’s kindy or school instead, or online, so travel is not the thing that stops therapy happening.
My child is not talking much and they are nearly three. Should we wait?
We would not wait. The common advice to give it time is right for some children and costly for others, and the only way to know which you have is to look properly. An assessment either reassures you or gets you started early, and both beat another six months of wondering.
Do you come out to kindies in the Walloon area?
Yes, where it is the right thing for the child. Seeing a child in the room they actually struggle in tells us more than any clinic session, and the educators who are with them every day get practical strategies rather than a report.
Ready to find out whether we are the right fit?
If a GP, paediatrician, child health nurse or your child’s kindy or school suggested you call us, let us know who — with your permission we will write back to them, so everyone working with your child is reading from the same plan.
We’ll partner with you to create a plan that works for your family — with access, empathy and hope.
